I’m a little confused by this post. I wouldn’t call a reduction of face to face clinic contact and reduction of supervised methadone use a good thing…? Indeed, this is a good experiment but my fear is that overdoses and/or relapses will sky rocket in the long run due to reduced contact with services.

Why would overdoses “sky rocket”? Observed supervision of methadone has no effect on overdose risk and is stigmatising and unnecessary. Reduced face to face time doesn’t increase overdose either. Patients are still seen regularly.
